Great Ocean Road 12.03. – 16.03.2009

Published by Claudia under South Australia, Victoria

One of the most famous and beautiful part of Australie was lying ahead of us THE GREAT OCEAN ROAD…

We rented a Wicked Campervan for 10 days and drove from Adelaide about 1.500 km over Harndorf (alte deutsche Sieldung), Kingston, Robe, Neson, Portland, Port Fairy, Warnambool, Port Campbell, Gelong and lots of other little towns to Melbourne.  The Greant Ocean Road itself is only about 250km long, but the most stunning road I have ever seen…

Backpackers told us to have a look at the 12 Apostel at night time so we decided to stay there over night, it was one of the most frightening nights I ever had, bacause we were the only people out there and the wind was so heavy we thought the van would get blown away, but in the end the Wicked didn’t start flying and the view was worth it:-)

Kangaroo Island 10.03. – 11.03.2009

Published by Claudia under South Australia

Another beautiful island which was a “have to do” on our list… I have seen lots of Kangaroos so far, but the third largest Australian island is not only known for its kangaroos but especially for the wild pinguins, seal colonies and bats. With our tour guide we explored this isolated wonderful place of wildlife during day and night time.

Also the well known rock formations were impressing to see. Unbelievable what mother nature can do… see pics…

We definitely had some phantastic and exciting time over there!

Perth to Adelaide 02.03. – 09.03.2009

For the next 9 day we travelled across the Nullabor Plain from Perth to South Australia’s capital city Adelaide with Adventure Tours Australia (http://www.adventuretours.com.au/perth-to-adelaide-tour). 3800 km of unforgetable adventure! Over the Darling Ranges to Wave Rock, Fitzgerald River National Park, Esperance, to magnificent coastal walks at the Cape Le grand National Park, sand boarding in Fowlers Bay, swimming with dolphins and Australian sea lions at Baird Bay, to incredible granite rock formations at Murphy’s Haystacks, surfing and hand feed tuna in Port Lincoln and lots of other amazing things which make this country so unbelievable perfect for me:-)
